Here is a Sony RX100 video review-
The Canon Powershot G7X Mark III is another direct competitor. The lens and autofocus performance/implementation are going to be the two biggest differentiating factors between these two. The G7X III has a significantly brighter lens, so it should do better in low light, but less zoom range. The RX100 VII trades off lens speed for reach. However it is worth noting, both lenses appear optically impressive. In terms of autofocus, there’s no contest, the Sony blows Canon’s CDAF system out of the water in terms of reliability and usability, for both stills and video.
The Sony DSC-RX100VII is the third installment of this line for me having the II and IV before it. Movies and still have exceptional color. the menu system is based pretty much on its predecessors, for good or bad. I have become used to the menus so it is not a chore. There is plenty of customization available. The Function menu and the My Menu provide me with enough quickly available commands so it is pretty easy to shoot with. The 24-200 equivalent lens is in the sweet spot for travel or walking around shooting. The eye AF is quite nice. There are a ton of features I won’t have occasion to use. ISO sensitivity goes to 12,800 but I don’t think I will shoot much past 400 as noise starts to creep in. In my still life tests from ISO 100-12,800 shots taken at 800 had an acceptable level of noise but in the field the maximum may be closer to 640 or 400.
